Yesterday morning I arrived at Schiphol Airport. I must say, leaving New York was hard. The energy of the city is addictive. However, there’s one thing I won’t miss about New York, and that is the constant noise of the city.
During our return flight my colleague, Esther Croes, and I talked about the results of the meeting. The New York group, led by Frances Levin, and possible the group of Minneapolis University, led by David Herin, will participate in the study. This would mean involvement of the USA in ICASA. Not only in attending the meetings, but also in research involvement. I hope they will succeed in contributing samples to the study.
But most important was the fact that professor Steve Faraone took the lead in developing the research protocol. I was hoping he would, and happily he did! His contribution to this part of the work is of crucial importance. We decided to deliver the first draft of the protocol early in August.
So, there’s a lot of work to be done. ..
In August (22-26th) I will visit the Conference of the European Society on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ESCAP) in Budapest. I will present the results of a literature review on adolescent ADHD and substance abuse and the first results of the EASP study. I will also visit the Hungarian participants in the Prevalence study.
During this conference I will share my experiences with you via this blog. And hopefully I will be able to inform you about the progress of the genetic study.
Have a nice summer!
